The new 9/11 Memorial in Boston is located next door to Logan and just across the street from the Airport Hilton

The Hilton served as the headquarters for Massportís Critical Assistance Relief Effort (CARE) Team which assisted family members in the aftermath of the attacks

Massport dedicated the 2.5 acre site at Logan for the Airport 9/11 Memorial on September 9th, 2008

A public design competition was held by the Memorial Advisory Committee which was comprised of representatives from Massport, the airlines, families of crew members and local design professionals

The landscape has "echoes of New England themes" with stone walls and Ginkgo trees that will turn bright yellow each autumn

The final design concept is called "The Place of Remembrance," by Moskow Linn Architects, a Boston-based architecture firm

The Memorial site is anchored by a large glass sculpture that encases two glass panels etched with the names of the passengers and crew of each flight that departed from Logan - American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175
